I highly recommend the book to anyone as it will be a valuable part of any experience. We have another version where the artwork was sketched in black and white, and even though the story was perfect, my daughter wasn't the least bit interested in any of the pictures. Instead, it bogs down in a few places, shows a 'Goodkin' tendency to make 'supermen' out of the main characters, and doesn't have an overtly taught plot line. Dyer is not a man with an agenda, he does not attempt to sway one over to this psychologist's thinking, or that historians take or other such nonsense that tends to fill the books of non-historians doing works of this scale and sheer Epic scope. I really liked this one too. It is an embrace born out of guilt and gratitude that our child is here, though we are no more deserving. Even her on and off boyfriend, Julian, preys on her emotions and tries to detract her from going after her dream of becoming a professional singer. It is a juvenile read at best.
