Parts of it are very good and very insightful, putting Tolkien in perspective, showing why he's important, and picking apart the misconceptions about his work (such as complaints that it's racist, the characters are either all good or all evil, that it over-romantic...

There are no deep insights here, because this isn't really a manifesto.
